Soil-Vapor Sampling

Soil-vapor sampling is conducted with a known source of contamination, either on the subject property or from another site, presents a potential human health hazard connected to contaminated vapors traveling from their subsurface source (i.e contaminated perched groundwater) up any structures on the property. Similar to radon, soil-vapors may contain harmful chemicals which could increase the risk of cancer. Unlike radon which is naturally occurring, soil-vapor is man-made - caused by spills and releases of petroleum product and halogenated solvents. Culprits causing contaminated soil-vapor are normally the historic gas stations, dry cleaners, and automotive service businesses.
